Wiltshire sheep with lambs

Babetas Wiltshires

Our breeding name, Babeta, holds a special place in our hearts. It’s a heartfelt tribute to our first ewe, Babeta, who was a beloved member of our flock. After her passing, we wanted to honor her memory in a meaningful way. Her name now serves as a constant reminder of the deep bond we share with our animals and the lasting legacy she left behind.

Wiltshire sheep offer a unique and low-maintenance approach to sheep farming due to their natural shedding ability. Unlike many breeds that require shearing, Wiltshires naturally shed their wool each year during the spring. This shedding, coupled with their naturally bare head, belly, and tail, eliminates the need for shearing, dagging, and tailing, making them an attractive option for smaller-scale, or lifestyle block farmers.

These sheep are known for their fertility and maternal instincts, commonly producing twins and even triplets, with lambs exhibiting rapid growth.

While Wiltshires can be either horned or polled, at Babetas farm we selectively breed for polled genetics. Furthermore, their hardiness and natural resistance to common sheep ailments like flystrike, facial eczema, and parasites make them well-suited for organic farming in both dry and wetter climates.

We've had a successful season. Thank you to everyone who bought from us!
We currently only have ram lambs available born in September 2025.
All our lambs are drenched, vaccinated and will be suitable for breeding from March 2026.
